There 253 million people in the world who are blind or visually impaired, 75% have conditions that are preventable or treatable. We screen for and treat eye conditions, raise awareness about eye health, and train and mentor local eye care teams

Story

<div><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">This Easter I had the oppurtunity of joining ORBIS, a non-profit organisation devoted to preventing blindness in developing countries during their visit to Da Nang in Vietnam. They provide assistance by working with the local trainee doctors to establish affordable and sustainable eye care. They educate the doctors through programmes such as their Flying Eye Hospital, hands on training in local hospitals and Cyber-Sight, an online resource which allows the local doctors to consult with the ORBIS doctors. </span></span></div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> </span></span></span></div> <div style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The work that ORBIS does is inspirational and after seeing it up close I can fully understand the immense difference that they make. The trip gave me a further insight into the importance of charity and I am grateful that the ACS Foundation made it possible for me to go on this trip.</span></span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"> <div><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div> </span></span></div>
