6 Peaks Challenge · 26 May 2012

At least 2 million children in the UK are struggling to talk and understand words.  We give children and young people the skills they need so they aren't left behind. We do this by creating tools for schools and nurseries, giving advice and guidance to families and putting pressure on politicians.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Some of you will know that both my children have developmental issues. Alex (aged 4) has verbal dyspraxia and can't talk all that well... although he still manages to make a tonne of noise! It's not curable, but is treatable. Christian (aged 8) is a smidge away from being confirmed as having either Asperger's or High Functioning Autism. Both are beautiful, intelligent and loving children, but uniquely different to other kids.

The last few years have been particularly difficult for us all. So despite being a selfish whatsit for most of my life, I thought it's about time I do something as a 'thank you' to some of the organisations who have helped us along the way...and raise some money for them. There's no way I'm doing anything stupid like chucking myself out of a plane, but I'm pretty confident I can put one foot in front of the other for a period of time. So I'm going to try my best and do the 3 Peaks Challenge (climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Peak and Snowdon) all in one go... and hopefully in one 24hr stint. I'm also being cheeky by calling this the 6 Peaks Challenge, cos I'm going to do the 3 biggest peaks in Yorkshire too, as part of my training for the Big Day. I've also already climbed Snowdon... which has given me a bit of belief that I can do this. I hope that you can put your hand into your pockets and donate a few quid. BIG THANKS.
