The Prince's Trust Palace to Palace 2016 · 2 October 2016 ·
This year I will be riding the distance of the Palace-to-Palace, but with two broken bones.
"How come?" you may ask. Well I'm a keen road cyclist and really fancied taking part this year. So I signed up and got out on my bike to do a bit of training. My biggest ride this year has been 110km, so I thought I would be OK.
However a few weeks ago I had a bit of a mechanical incident, and my chain snapped. This flipped me over the handle bars. I landed on my head (great job helmet manufacturers - another serious injury saved), then onto my right shoulder, and scraped all four limbs across the road.
Result?
One broken collar bone, one broken bone in my hand, loads of road rash. Now the road rash is long gone, the collar bone is on the mend, the hand remains in a cast, but there will be no more road riding for me until mid-November.
However I'd still like to make a contribution. So on the same day as everyone else, I will be riding the distance of the Palace-to-Palace, but on a smart bike trainer.
It won't be half as much fun as the real thing! So I'd be really grateful if you would sponsor me to make it all worth it!
