Introducing Molly the Rottweiler

Rotund Rottweiler Molly, from Barnsley, was first brought home as a tiny puppy by her owner Wayne Houlston and his wife Carol, but years of too many titbits have finally taken their toll and now they are determined to help their beloved pooch slim down.

Weight story

The weight problems started when the pair began serving Molly their food leftovers and visitors couldn’t resist giving her a treat from the jar when they popped round.

Wayne said: “Her weight has probably been an issue for a while but we didn’t realise how serious it was until she had problems with her back legs and she couldn’t stand up properly.”

Vital Stats

PDSA Vet Advice

Sean Wensley, PDSA Senior Veterinary Surgeon, said: “Excess pounds can contribute to a number of serious health conditions and, sadly, it does reduce life expectancy. But the good news is that it’s never too late to make positive changes to a pet’s diet and lifestyle.”

PDSA advises that owners always consult their own vet for dog diet and pet exercise advice. Why not visit our pet health video pages for further information too.
