Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

St Oswald’s Hospice, Newcastle upon Tyne, is widely acknowledged to be one of the UK’s leading providers of hospice care for both adults and children.  You might think that a hospice is a sad place – maybe just somewhere to die with dignity, which of course it is but it also offers much more.  Their expert team work with thousands of people each year, relieving their physical pain and offering the emotional and spiritual support each patient needs to enjoy real quality of life for the weeks, months or years remaining to them.

The staff at St Oswald’s are committed to pushing back the boundaries of palliative care for the benefit of patients everywhere. Recently, for example, they have been pioneering the use of hypnotherapy  to help people who have Motor Neurone Disease.  The fantastic results with North East patients are attracting worldwide interest.  So Motor Neurone patients near you could soon enjoy a better quality of life thanks to St Oswald’s Hospice.

St Oswald’s is a registered charity.  Their annual running costs exceed £7 million – of which £5 million must be raised from voluntary donations.
