My story
I've finally given in to the voices inside my head and signed up to cycle from London to Brighton. Just to make it that bit harder, I'm also doing it in the dark. That means potholes, random kamikaze wildlife and, since it's a Friday night, possibly the odd boy racer who doesn't know how to use lights or stick to the speed limit. Yeah. Hmm.
I could tell you all how worthy the MacMillan Cancer Support charity is but since one in three people will be affected by cancer at some point in their lives, there is a good chance that you already know who they are and may have accessed their services already. So I won't do that.
Now, according to the latest figures on Facebook, I currently have 223 friends. If every one of you donated just £1 each, I'd easily hit my £200 target and that money would go towards paying for trained nurses and counsellors and psychologists to support anyone living with cancer, whether they're coping with depression or anxiety or they simply need to talk it all over with someone.If you all donated £2 or more each, I'll even wear some sort of comedy fancy dress for the ride just so you feel like you get something extra out of it. There will even be pics.
Obviously any donation however big or wee is appreciated but please please tick the 'gift aid' box if you're a taxpayer as it means the government have to stump up a bit of their (our!) money and the charity gets that bit more. All you have to do is decide how much you want to give, put in your bank details and jobsagoodun. You didn't even have to write all this crap despite having a copywriter boyfriend who does it for a living. WIN.
