<p>After leaving the Army in 1999, I've since relaxed my fitness and broadened my waistline like a true champ. A Royal Engineers Officer friend of mine highlighted the Paras 10 P Company challenge a few weeks ago and asked if I was up for it. After recently undergoing extensive surgery I was dubious to begin with knowing that time was going to be an issue regarding recovery times and getting up to fitness, then I thought, yeah, if I ever really needed a kick up my arse to get me going this would be it. The opportunity to help others while hitting a significant goal for myself is exactly what I need and although not my old Regiment, the Paras have consistently been on Operations and they like all other Regiments have took their share of casualties and are doing their bit to raise funds to help their own out which is admirable.
