Story
Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research, and their groundbreaking work has saved millions of lives. On Sunday June 20th, I will be taking part in Race for Life; a 5k run to raise money for Cancer Research UK. It is the largest women-only fundraising event in the UK and since 1994 women of all ages and fitness levels across the UK have come together at these inspiring events. To date 4 million women have raised over £240 million for the charity's life saving work, and with your help, I hope to play a small part in contributing to this further. The number of people surviving cancer is increasing but there is still much more research needed. Your donation will give scientists the long term support they need to find new ways to treat and prevent this disease.
I am currently maintaining my fitness by attending the gym regularly and road running, with the target of completing the race in under 30 minutes. My employer Barclays runs a scheme called 'pound for pound' with which they will match the money that I raise. (So your donation is doubly important!). This will be my first fundraising event, but I hope that it will be one of many to come, where I intend to run further and raise more!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you for your support.
