Mount Kilimanjaro Trek (Rongai Route) · 2 March 2013

No parent expects to live longer than their child, but for many of the families we support, this is a reality. Julia's House, the Dorset & Wiltshire Children's Hospice charity provides frequent respite care for children and support for their families at home, in the community and at our hospice.

Story

Five Dads from Park School (Bournemouth) got together early in 2012 all with a common goal. We wanted to do two things: undertake a serious physical and mental challenge and raise money for a local charity with which we all had a close connection. This is a self funded trip and any money we raise will be going directly to the charity

Our challenge: to climb Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest mountain in Africa, considered to be the tallest freestanding mountain in the world rising to 19,340 feet, and one of the top seven world summits.

Our charity: to support Julia’s House - a Dorset based Children's Hospice that provides respite care and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and to their families, through a dedicated team of community carers.

The first part is tough and it's down to us: we are planning our ascent in March 2013, which gives has given us enough time to train and prepare for this phenomenal challenge.

We do need your help to make the second of our goals work:  your donations to our charity. Please do give generously and help make a huge different to children who are not as lucky as our own. Thank you.
