Story

When my dad died as a result of lung cancer on February 24th 2010, I lost someone incredibly special to me and the rest of my family. One of the things that helped me, him and my mum through the horrible year when he tried desperately to beat the disease was the support they both got from the Macmillan nurses. They were fantastic in simply being there when the going got really tough, just as they were for my younger sister's family when she died from cancer in 2002. They deserve more support than I can muster but with your help I am to raise £6,800 - that's £100 for ever year my dad was alive. I'm not setting a deadline, I just want to hit that target so more families like mine can get the support and help they need in the darkest days of fighting cancer. With your help we can hit that target, so please, give generously and let's help more people together.

The £6,800 won't bring my dad back and it won't stop cancer - but it will help Macmillan Cancer Support provide care and aid for families that really need it.

I have made this my business' charity and will be staging events to help raise the funds to hit the target. They will be events were people get something back. It's too easy to simply say please give something for little in return - and that's why I'm raising the money, because when people need to ask for help when dealing with cancer, Macmillan nurses are there to offer the help; and they ask for nothing in return.

Once you've helped me, why don't you set up your own page and set yourself a target? People don't get better without help, so go on, set up a page and start raising funds to help people worse off than yourself - it will make you feel a much better person.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thanks again for your support, I really appreciate it; make sure every day you have is great one; you never know if it's your last - cheers and thanks, Graham
