My story of walking the west highland way
Sprang out of a chat with a friend one day
She said she was keen to do the trek
And I said lets go for it –what the heck!
Then I thought…
96 miles is a long way for me
With a corn on my toe and a dodgy knee
But the chance to raise funds in these cash strapped times
To support Stirling Carers Centre came to mind.
The carers are just like you and me
They’re mums, dads, partners and family
But getting some time for themselves is a task
I trust you’ll understand and that’s why I ask…
“Carers Week” 14th- 20th June, is an annual event, held across the UK to recognise the contribution of unpaid carers and raise awareness of their needs.
The theme of this year’s carers week is “a life of my own” to highlight what needs to be done to make sure carers can take a break and basically just get some free time to do the ordinary things most of us take for granted.
The shocking truth is that carers are three times more likely to suffer ill health than others.
With this in mind, all funds raised will be used by Stirling Carers Centre to give carers a great day out during carer’s week to relax, unwind and recharge their batteries. I’ve worked with carers organisations for many years and know that for some carers, a day out to themselves can quite literally be a life line.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please support this cause - all donations big or small will be very gratefully received :-).
