Alzheimer's Society - Memory Walk · 20 September 2009

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hi Everyone

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 20th September I am taking part in the Memory Walk at Alexandra Park.

My Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, which is the most common type of dementia. I'd like to raise as much money as possible to help him and others like him.

Dementia describes different brain disorders that trigger a loss of brain function. These conditions are all usually progressive and eventually severe. Symptons include memory loss, confusion, problems with speech and understanding. Dementia is a terminal condition.

1 in 3 people over 65 will die with some form of dementia

There are currently 700,000 people with dementia in the UK

There will be over 1 million people with dementia by 2025

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I hope that you can spare some change as it would be really appreciated.

With thanks

Pat
