Hello Guys!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and to support my cause!As you probably know, I am always going somewhere remote and doing something crazy to help raise funds for a humanitarian cause and to create awareness of the situation of some people much less priviliged  than us!

In my next expedition I will attempt to bike across the Danakil Depression in Ethiopia with a group of incredible women to raise money for women that are survivors of war. We will leave on November 10th!

We will bike across the furnace-like Danakil Depression, a raw wound in the Earth and come in close contact with sulphur/salt lakes, thermoactive springs, lava boiling lakes and vulcanos. The Danakil Depression has the hottest average temperature of 34.4C Degrees and is also know as "Gateway to Hell".

We are expecting temperatures well above the 40C during the days and the roughness of the terrains has us worried all the time. None of us is a experienced biker. To be able to cope with that , we have started training daily  but we are painfully aware that we have a long way to go before we considered ourselves ready!

Like all WOAM expeditions this will be a pioneering one! We will be the first female team to attempt to cross this unhospitable remote region with mountain bikes.

However, what I am about to go through is nothing compared to the struggles that milions of women in war-torn regions goes through daily. These women remind us of their strenght and determination to overcome the most daunting challenges.

After we complete this challenge, we will then fly to Rwanda to see first-hand where the funds raised by this expedition will be used and how Women for Women International's holistic one year-programme  works to help women who have suffered from the atrocities of war to get back on their feet and gain self sufficiency.

I will be funding my trip and all the money raised on this page will go directly to Women for Women International, who have helped more than half million of women worldwide since 1993. As a team we aim to raise 100.000. For more information on this please visit www.womenforwomen.org
