Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am cycling 100 miles on 31st July in the Ride London event to raise funds for Unicef - the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund. Although I have done cycle events before, this will be the longest distance that I have ridden in a single day - I expect to spend between 7 and 8 hours in the saddle and I expect to be walking funny the next day.
Why Unicef? More than nine out of ten refugee and migrant children arriving in Europe this year through Italy are unaccompanied. Often these children have little choice but to make the journey alone, having been forced to flee their homes to escape conflict, despair and poverty. They make these journeys in the hope of finding safety in Europe but the reality is that for many their trials are far from over. Working with its national partners and other organisations, Unicef is setting up protection, health, education and other programmes for unaccompanied children coming through on the refugee and migrant routes.
