A WALK ACROSS ENGLAND in Memory of Terry Unsworth On January 28th 2009, my brother Terry Unsworth passed away in Chico, California after a year long illness. Terry was born and raised in Bolton, England. He attended Thornleigh College and afterwards earned a degree in applied physics from Lancaster University before briefly serving in the RAF. He moved on to oversee vehicle rescue and recovery operations on the UK motorways before working as a consultant specialising in business process improvement. Working all over the world, he chose to make the United States his home, moving there in 1993 and becoming a very proud citizen in 2003. Terry met his wife, Donna, whilst working in Connecticut and married soon after moving to Chico in 2002 where he took up the position of President and CEO of Aero Union. He enjoyed leading the company through some difficult times, passionately dedicating himself to pursuing the best interests of Aero Union and the employees. Terry was very active in the community as a businessman, member of the Rotary Club and director on the Chamber of Commerce. Terry’s time in the RAF led to an interest in flying and he fulfilled his dream by becoming a licensed pilot. Terry led life to the full and spent his leisure time restoring classic cars, trucks and motorcycles and was an avid music lover and family man! He achieved a great deal during his 55 years, achievements too numerous to mention, and his motivation has been an inspiration to many. After his passing I felt that it would be fitting to achieve something myself in his memory. On June 18th, I will set off from St Bees in Cumbria on the West coast, to walk the 192miles across England to Robin Hood’s Bay on the East coast. Accompanied by friends Joe Simmons, Chris Grady, Jim Carter and Neville Grady, it promises to be an adventurous fortnight. It is only right that our efforts in Terry’s name benefit some deserving charities in both the UK and the States.
