Tower and Roof Appeal · 25 October 2009 ·

The P.C.C. of Patterdale raises funds to support St Patrick's Church in Patterdale. We also support the annual Patterdale Boundary Walk in aid of St Patrick's Church and Patterdale Primary School, with all donations split across the two organisations. Many thanks for your generous support.

Story

St Patrick's Church is a joint Anglican and Methodist Church. This appeal by the Friends of St Patrick's is to raise funds to save the church roof from blowing off. The problem is that the nails that pin the slates to the main roof are too short and have worked loose.  The slates are starting to slip, and a severe autumn gale could lift off whole sections. Further, the tower is seriously affected by damp and this threatens our very fine Victorian pipe organ.

We need the support not only of those connected  to the church, but also of local people who are not regular churchgoers but who wish the church well, and of local businesses and grant giving bodies.

As PCC and Appeal Treasurer I am grateful for the wonderful response that the Friends have had so far.

Very many thanks for your generosity.
