Story

Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

To those of you that know us and those that don't we are just a group of friends who have decided to ride from Ollerton in Nottinghamshire to Lands End up to John O Groats and then back to Ollerton without travelling on a Motorway about 2000 miles (probably more once we have got lost a few times) we will be starting on Monday 9th April 2012 and returning on Saturday 14th April 2012

We decided that given we were going to be enjoying ourselves we should try and put our ride to some good use.

That's the reason we decided on fund raising for Macmillan Cancer Support

We have all had family, friends or colleagues that have suffered with Cancer. So we all felt that it was an ideal charity to support and fund raise for and hopefully in some small way aid their invaluable work.

You'll see our team fundraising target on the right. Your donation can really help us smash this goal.

Statistically one in three people will get cancer and it’s the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, or a loved one has, you’ll want a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way. Macmillan are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer, so they also help carers, families and communities| . They guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. They fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals| and build cancer care centres| . But they give so much more than medical help.

People need practical support at home, so they provide anything from some precious time off for a carer, to a lift to hospital. People need emotional support, so they listen, advise and share information through their cancer support specialists , website and trained professionals| . People need financial help| to cope with the extra costs cancer can bring, so they give benefits advice, and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs. Together they listen, they learn, they act to help people live with cancer.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 28%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.

So please dig deep and donate now. Alternatively you can donate by mobile by texting LEJG60 to 70070 with an amount in whole pounds e.g LEJG60 £5 This will then be automatically added to our total.

Thank you from all of us in anticipation.

Neal, Ross, Carl, Paul, Phil and Stuart
