Happy Birthday to Me!

Thanks for the many offers of Hip Replacement Surgery, Stannah Stair Lifts and Grecian 2000 as presents. After some thought I have decided that I would much rather have people contribute towards Maruva who i have been connected with for some time (and Julie my sister is a volunteer Trustee).

Maruva does excellent work with HIV positive children in Zimbabwe and particularly those who are orphaned or can't be supported by their families. The Charity provides medication, support and counselling for the young people. A nurse friend of Julie's is the main force behind the Charity and Julie has been out to see the work they do. There is lots more information at their website at www.maruva.org

If you can afford to make a donation I know it will be put to good use! Using this site it's all safe - and the Government also pays to Maruva the tax element you paid as income tax (if you are a taxpayer) via the giftaid scheme. This means your gift is made bigger by the Government (and we all know that getting money back from Gordon is not an everyday experience!).

As for the night, it's a 8:00pm meet up at Liverpool's Pier Head ferry terminal - the link to the Map is below, and it's 10 minutes walk from Liverpool James Street train station. The  (optional) theme of the night is 007 (and no, not ALL the gay boys can come as a Bond Girl). Given my age and skin, I shall be coming as Judi Dench.

We will be departing at 8:30pm sharp and unless you can swim fast, if you are not on board when we leave, you will miss the social event of the, er,  night, that literally several people will be talking about for, well, minutes.

The cruise (yes! they call it a cruise!) will last for 3 hours and we will be returning to the Pier Head. I'm hoping to have a little entertainment on board, a bar, and for all to have a great night. Afterwards, those who want to can come along to the City Centre to party away in one or more disreputable clubs where obviously i have never been before.

Just in case anyone is nervous of being on a ship. Mersey Ferries are very stable, and totally unsinkable. Just remember that Liverpool was also the home port of the Titanic - and that was as safe as houses too.

I'm really looking forward to seeing you all there.

Paul xx
