Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  Rachel (my wife) was diagnosed with an MPD 4 years ago, it changed our lives immediately.  She had had pneumonia and was at hospital for a routine blood test, the shock of the diagnosis was huge. 

MPDs (myeloproliferative disorders) are rare blood cancers that affect people of all ages.  These disorders cause debilitating fatigue, blood clots, heart attacks, strokes and increase the risk of leukaemia. 

MPD-Support was formed in 2006, it is a charitable foundation and it is their goal to raise funds to support research to find a cure for myeloproliferative disorders. It is vital that research and drugs-trials happen, and that patients and their families are offered help, information, support and guidance.  MPDs are not "sexy" or well known diseases, and they need constant charitable donations to fund all these things.

So, on 27th June this year I am going to be abseiling from the top of Guy's Hospital Tower - the world's tallest hospital tower!  It is incredible high, standing at 469ft!  Having only abseiled from the top of Alton climbing wall (25 ft!) I am wondering what on earth I am doing facing a challenge like this!!  We are hoping to have a group of 34 other abseilers with us, all supporting MPD-Support so I'm sure the team spirit and adrenalin will kick in ... let's hope so!!
