Sheffield Poem-a-Thon for Refugees and Asylum Seekers · 2 April 2016

ASSIST works with people in Sheffield who have been refused asylum in the UK. They are evicted from their Home Office accommodation and forced into destitution. We provide our clients with stable, dignified accommodation, regular financial support and a person-centred casework service.

Story

Last year 60 poets in London raised an incredible £20,000 by each reading for 8 minutes.

Now 48 Sheffield poets, led by Sally Goldsmith, want to see what we can achieve here.

Sheffield ASSIST is well-known for  providing essential support for those refugees and asylum seekers in greatest need.  Their work is entirely voluntary, and totally reliant on individual generosity.

If you'd like to support the event then pop along to the Art House at Backfields in the City Centre between 10am and 6pm on 2nd April (I'm reading at 4.30). Refreshments and stalls too.
