We exist to give a lifetime of support to the wider Army family, regardless of where or when a soldier served. We act swiftly and efficiently in providing support in the form of grants to those who find themselves in real need. We also provide grants to charities who support the wider Army family.

Story

Running 10km next Sat 27 April 2013 in GCR number 3.

After raising £43,000 for the Soldiers' Charity in 2012, St George's is aiming for more this year. All 429 participants are linked in some way to St. George's school, Harpenden: staff, parents, students, ex-students, governors, parents, one-time parents, ex-staff, friends, hangers on. On April 27th 2013 they are doing either 24km, 10km or 4km, depending on whether they are able to do 10 metres for each serviceman killed in Afghanistan; or whether they are adding in those seriously wounded, or every person wounded in action. All of our runners have been allocated a serviceman or woman killed in action on Op Herrick to run in the memory of. The forces have taken 2400 casualties killed or wounded since 2001. Help us to help them.

I have been allocated Sapper David Watson, a British bomb disposal expert who died on New Year's Eve 2010 after being caught in an explosion in southern Afghanistan. The 23-year-old from 33 Engineer Regiment, Royal Engineers was on his first operational tour when he was fatally wounded by a roadside bomb.
