Story

Dear Friend,Colleague,Family,
Those that know me fairly well wouldn't ever use the word sporty when describing me so you may be shocked to hear that on 25th April this year I will running the London Marathon...all 26.2 miles of it!

The charity i'm running for is ChildLine who are a part of the NSPCC.

I'm very lucky to have a healthy happy 11 year old daughter and I never want to take this for granted. So..I have decided to put my all into raising as much as I can for THE most worthy of causes, Childline.
This is where I need your help and support. Here's some facts to help you help me...
£4 could answer a child's call to Childline, so desperatley needed when a child needs to speak out but has nowhere else to turn
£20 could buy dolls to help in "play therapy" to help a child express their emotions and act out their experiences of abuse that are simply too painfull to talk about
£85 could pay for the cost of counselling two children
£250 could pay for two days of individual therapeutic sessions between a child and an NSPCC social worker at one the NSPCC's domestic violence centres
£500 could pay for one of the Independant & Enquiry Assessment Service team to investigate complex networks of organised child abuse for two days.Every hour this team works with the police helps save children at immediate risk
£2000 could cover the costs of all calls to a ChildLine counseller for four and a half years
Having read about and discussed some of these issues and solutions with ChildLine the challenge of running the marathon seems minor in comparison to the challenges some of these children face daily.
Please,please,please help!!!
Donate what you can, as you have seen above £4 makes a massive difference,£20 is a round of drinks,£85 a night out. All of these we don't blink an eye at half the time.
Recession, unemployment, credit card and feul bills after a cold winter or Christmas spending may make us think we are a bit less affluent than we were last year and things are tough. They are not nearly as tough as some of the trauma ChildLine's callers are going through.

Dig deep and don't forget to tick the gift aid box...it makes a massive difference!

Thank you so much,

Paul

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy.
