Forth Rail Bridge abseil 2009 · 11 October 2009 ·

People who are deafblind have substantial visual and hearing loss which causes extreme difficulty with communication, information and mobility. We aim to raise aspirations and expand the lives of Deafblind people, some of the least visible and most isolated members of society.

Story

I'M GOING TO JUMP OFF A BRIDGE!

Don't get too excited, I have no intentions of ending my life just yet! When I say jump off a bridge, I mean abseil down the Forth Rail Bridge and raise money to help deafblind people in Scotland live as rightful members of their own communities.

I know that I look like I'm having a smashing time on that ropeswing but to be honest, my bum was knitting socks - I was putting on a brave face for the photo! If that's how I feel when I'm only a couple of metres (79 inches) off the ground, imagine the pairs of socks I'll have made by the time I'm leaning over the bridge starting my descent!

If my poor banter hasn't made you want to help me raise my intended £200 for Deafblind Scotland, then just think what life would be like if you couldn't see or hear...

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

For anyone who doesn't want to donate online, I have one of those olde tymie sponsorship forms made of paper and I'd be more than happy to visit you in person!

Thank you everyone!
