Hi,
Thanks for looking at my page, much appreciated.
Since turning 40 I've achieved some 'life goals' which I really should have cracked earlier in life; for example I ran my first [proper] half marathon last year in Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. So continuing in this vein of middle-aged renaissance (or stupidity) I thought it about time I completed a full marathon. The Eden Marathon in October is local and low key, but there are LOTS of hills, and anyone who knows me as a runner will know how much I dislike them! So it's likely to be a long day................. I'll just be plodding! However, I felt it was only appropriate to try and raise money for others less fortunate while doing so - might as well try and get something productive out of it eh?
Everyone who knows Lewis will understand why I have subscribed to Corpal. ACC is non-curable and has a significant effect on the lives of those with the condition and those who care for them. The more that the doctors and scientists can understand about it, hopefully the more they will be able to prevent occurrence and improve prognosis. Clearly a subject close to my heart, I wanted to raise money for a charity which assists those with this rare condition; hence Corpal.
I did agonise for some time whether I should in fact be raising money for injured Service men and women. I even asked JustGiving whether it was possible to put 2 charities on one page and split the funds raised. Unfortunately it is not, so if you would rather donate to a Service based charity then please see my other page (http://www.justgiving.com/Paul-FitzPatrick-Eden-RMBTF) where I have set up a similar opportunity to donate to the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, who provide support to RM personnel, families and dependants who are in need, including those injured on Operations, and through their very wide mandate are able to spend their funds in areas that the likes of Help For Heroes and BLESMA are not.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Many thanks for your time and support.
Fitz (aka Paul)
