You will probably realise by the fact that I am able to provide this update that I have done my jail time & successfully been bailed!
A huge thank you to all who supported today's event & indeed my colleagues who kindly gave of their own free time to make the necessary arrests - well done one & all!
We had a preview of the support that is provided by this charity to local disadvantaged children & the work that is done to support them is truly inspiring.
There is still time to donate - it would be fantastic to reach £1,000!
Update 27/11/2009
Not long now until the big day & a late change in the rules! It seems that the more you give, the longer I will be detained! So what more incentive do you need to give generously as others have for this local charity?
27/11/09 Update from Corporate Communications, HQ: "Just wait 'til you see what he'll be wearing for the event!"
Thank you for the fantastic response in supporting me with this very worthy cause - it seems that some are pleased with the prospect of seeing me behind bars!
Even though we have reached my target please still donate if you are able to do so because every penny collected will count in supporting local disadvantaged kids.
02/10/09 Update: Heart FM have had to change the date of this event, but fear not, it's still going ahead, and will take place on Monday 30th November 2009!

Chief Superintendent Paul Howlett in Arrest Shocker!
Wiltshire Police are teaming up with Heart FM to raise money for the 'Have A Heart' Wiltshire Charity, with funds raised going to support disadvantaged children living locally. Divisional Commander for Swindon; Paul Howlett is taking part in the Heart FM Jail & Bail event and will be 'arrested' and bundled in to the back of police van, before being paraded through Swindon Town Centre with a ball and chain and then taken to prison. Normally the fundraising itinerary is to raise a minimum of £500 for his bail and freedom, however, on this occasion, if we raise more than £500, they might just keep him locked up! So calling all officers, staff, family, friends and associates, please have a heart and dig deep into your pockets to raise money for local charities. This is a very worthy cause, and any donations; no matter how small, will be gratefully received! 'Have A Heart' - Making a difference through the power of radio
