Tim, Paul I would like to ask for your support to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.

We are not exactly the fittest men in the world however we will be attempting to cycle 500km over rough terrain, through tunnels and up and down hills across Vietnam to Cambodia starting in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and ending in Angkor Wat, Cambodia.

I don’t think we realised how hard this would be to raise money and train for the event, we have recently given up smoking and now at every opportunity out cycling over 20 miles per day, and getting up at 6am Sunday mornings when most people are probably still in bed fast asleep to go and do car boot sales!

Over the past few months we have been dressing up as Disney characters, doing more car boot sales and loads more to try and raise even more money for this very worthy cause.

Statistics have shown Cancer is the number one fear for the British public, feared ahead of debt, knife crime, Alzheimer’s disease and losing a job.

There are around 298,000 new cases of cancer (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer) diagnosed each year in the UK, and more than 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. Between 1978 and 2007, incidence rates for cancer in Great Britain increased by 25%, with a 14% increase in men and a 32% increase in women. However, in the last decade incidence rates have remained fairly constant.

There are more than 200 different types of cancer, but four of them - breast, lung, large bowel (colorectal) and prostate - account for over half (54%) of all new cases. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK even though it is rare in men.

It is more than likely you will have or know someone close to you who has suffered/suffering with Cancer, so please dig deep and donate now and we thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
