We support the growing number of people in and around Milton Keynes affected by a life-limiting illness. We give our patients and their loved ones specialist, personalised care - free of charge. Only 13.8% of our costs are met by ongoing NHS funding, so we’re dependent on your support. Thank you.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've done it!

On Sunday 17th April I completed 26 three minute rounds on the heavybag in aid of Willen Hospice, and did it in some style, admittedly surprising myself with how good I felt.

After weeks of training, hours in the gym, on the bag, on the treadmill and on the streets, it all paid off this morning at the Red Hot World Buffet in Milton Keynes. I felt very strong, threw some hard shots throughout and my stamina in particular held up very well. The book 'Boxing Fitness' by Ian Oliver was a driver behind some of my workouts which I tailored for myself. I also found some videos of my old favourite alltime boxer Marvin Hagler over the last couple of days which were utterly inspirational.

The support I had on the day was second to none, family, friends and work colleagues all wished me well. Steven at Red Hot has simply been legendary and it was great to have Julia and Katie from Willen along with Leigh from Perception. The cornerman, my eight year old son Harvey, was superb and did not let me down.

Money is still coming in, both on and offline, a huge donation from Red Hot now means we have raised over £600 together, with money still to come in next week. That is a significant sum and I am delighted with it and I am sure it will help the Hospice. Thank you all very much indeed.

Best wishes,

Paul.
