Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle · 22 April 2013

Lewy body dementia is the second most common cause of age-related dementia, affecting around 130,000 people in the UK. We raise awareness of the disease, provide information to patients and carers, and fund research so that in future it can be more easily diagnosed and treated.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

- Brothers, Paul & Chris Gardner have organised to cycle from Lands End at the far end of Cornwall, to John O'Groats at the tip of Scotland (LEJOG) (a route of approximately 1,000 miles) to raise money for the 'Lewy Body Society' (a registered charity) - to help them to raise awareness of the 'Lewy Body' condition, to help to research the condition and to help support other sufferers and their families.

- After spending a very tough 8 weeks in Peterborough Hospital last summer, our father was diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia. He now lives in a Residential Care Home.

- The Lewy Body Society details more about the condition, prognosis and symptoms that sufferers experience - please see; http://lewybody.org/

- We are funding our own trip which we are undertaking independently without any support and hope to raise at least £5,000 for the Charity.

- We have planned to cycle the route over a period of 12 days in May and catch the train with our bikes to Penzance on 17th May 2013, to make a start the next day. We return home from John O'Groats on the morning of 30th May 2013.

- Please don't be daunted by the planned fund raising target and donate as much or as little as you wish, if everyone that is directed to this 'Just Giving' page donates just a £1, then we feel sure we can still reach our target.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
