Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

Please read my whole story...
I'm cycling from London to Brighton for Brain Tumour Research and, if I get plenty of donations, me and my good friend Phil will both cycle it dressed as Batman and Robin!! Your small act of donating to help others can make you a hero too!

I'm doing this in memory of my mum who sadly lost her fight to brain cancer in September. She had suffered previously with bowel cancer and after a long battle, was starting to recover well, regaining her confidence and was able to enjoy holidays and spending quality time with the family.

Unfortunately we were then given the devastating news that she had subsequently developed secondary tumours in the brain. Despite having operations, scans and receiving available treatments and supportive care, she lost her brave fight too quickly. My mum was my hero .....

It was shocking to find out just how dreadful the stats are for brain tumours and how terribly under-funded this cause is;

Brain Tumour Research receives less than 1% of national cancer research funding in the UK, yet 20% to 40% of ALL cancers spread to the brain.

More people under 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer.

Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of UK children.

1 in 50 people who die under the age of 60 die from a brain tumour.

16,000 people each year are diagnosed with a brain tumour.

58% of those diagnosed die within a year compared to 5% from breast cancer, 35% from leukaemia and 7% from prostate cancer.

Less than 20% of those diagnosed survive beyond 5 years, compared to more than 90% with breast cancer, 80% with prostate cancer and 50% with leukaemia.

There are more than 120 different types of brain tumours and, in adults, secondary tumours are the most common.

Please donate to help progress research into brain tumours and to improve the outcome for patients and their families now and in the future. Be a hero today and help save a life.
