London to Brighton Cycle 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·

Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Many moons ago I was quite a keen cyclist, but then in 2010 I was diagnosed with MS and that turned my world on its end.
Cycling was out, running was out, any sort of sport was out. The simple act of walking became difficult. Other symptoms increased in number and severity.

Now due to medication, physiotherapy and yoga, mobility has improved somewhat. The symptoms are under control.
Enough so that now I have chance to pay back for some of the care I have received and help fund research into a cure for MS.

MS if often a "hidden" condition, the symptoms are not visible but they can be devastating all the same.
The cause of MS is not known and there is no cure, only drugs to relieve some of the symptoms.
MS can strike otherwise fit and healthy people in their 20's and 30's, though sometimes even younger.
I am looking to raise money to help fund research in to a possible cure. A cure that is desperately needed by approximately 100,000 people in the UK alone.

The 54 miles from London to Brighton, over the South Downs is going to be hard enough, to make it more of a challenge, I am going to attempt it on a small wheeled folding bicycle, if I possibly can. It will depend on the weather and how I am feeling on the day. MS is very unpredictable.
