Dear All
One thousand miles, in 10 days, cycling in October.
Lands End to John O’ Groats - the longer way
I am taking part in a fundraising ride for Hospicecare Devon
Having had personal experience with Hospicecare when my Wife , Tina sadly lost her Mum, Hilda Addicott . I can only say that in the difficult weeks after she had gone they picked up the pieces for our family and it is in her memory that I am doing this ride .
Our longest serving staff member Reg Hawkins is currently getting help and care from Hospicecare and several other members of my staff have been touched at the care they and their loved ones have received from Hospiscare , the local hospice charity for Exeter, mid and East Devon .
I know many of you will have known someone who have been cared for by Hospicecare and know the professional approach and deep care they provide not just for the patient but for the family as well .
Five members of Exeter University are also doing this ride with me in memorial to Karen Fogget , a member of their Team who sadly passed away recently. Karen spent her final week at the local hospice .
By raising funds for Hospiscare I wish to ensure others benefit from the same care, attention and consideration that Karen and my family received from the hospice and the care team.
We are all keen cyclists of varying abilities and certainly not up to the challenge yet . I will be training hard aiming to gradually increase my mileage to approx 250 - 300 miles per week by the time we leave .We are all extremely enthusiastic about taking part in this challenge to raise funds for a great charity.
Thank you for considering offering us your support.
Kind regards,
Paul Gibbins
