My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I want to raise £7000 for St Mungos, the leading homelessness organisation in England. I am the Chair of St Mungos and every year we need to raise £5m to support our work with homeless men and women who need health and work opportunities as well as homes to live in.

To raise this money I am seeking your support to sponsor me on a husky sledding adventure through the Arctic in Norway in March 2012. I will be driving a team of huskies through 200km of arctic tundra and the trip will take a week. It will be bitterly cold and hard work as the sleds need to be pushed uphill with the huskies at times. So no relaxing holiday!

I am paying for the costs of the expedition through the registration fee and by sponsoring myself to cover expedition costs so your donations will go to St Mungos.

Sponsorship of St Mungos goes towards the work we do with rough sleepers and other vulnerable people on the streets. There are many reasons why people become homeless- relationship breakdown, financial pressures such as the loss of a job, mental health issues or problems with drug and alcohol addiction. Your support allows us to do much more than just provide a roof. Our specialist healthcare, training and employment teams are dedicated to helping homeless people recover from their experiences and really turn their lives around.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
