Connect is a national charity for people living with aphasia (communication disability) which is often caused by stroke. Aphasia can strike anyone at any age and at any time. 1 in every 200 people in the UK lives with aphasia and each person experiences it differently. Some people cannot speak at all, some people have just a few words. It affects reading, writing and numbers. Aphasia can lead to lack of confidence, depression, social exclusion – and people can lose their connection with the world. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Our vision is a simple one, we want a world where people with aphasia can re-connect with life again. Find out more about how we do that at www.ukconnect.org

Story

Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Richmond Park 10k on 9th June 2012 with a team of colleagues from Line Up, the company I work for. In February 2011, our much-loved Managing Director, Duncan Beale suffered a massive brain haemorrhage that left him hospitalised for several months. Happily he is now making a steady recovery and is benefitting from the help of the charity, Connect.

Connect is a charity for people living with aphasia, a communication disability which usually occurs after a stroke or brain injury. They work alongside people with aphasia and their families to develop communication and rebuild confidence.

With your donation, the team at Line Up can help Connect in some small way to continue to improve the lives of Duncan and other asphasia sufferers.

So please sponsor and help me run the first offical run I've done since secondary school!
