Hi All,
As you may know I am taking part in the London Marathon this year for the first time in 15 years. Back then I was a little bit younger (!), but a lot more naive. I hope with the experience I have gained over the past couple of years, I'll finally enjoy the event and break the 3 hour milestone!
I am raising money this year for the and Bexley Hospice. They are a Hospice that helps people in the community, but more importantly provide assistance and support to families who have terminally ill loved one. The Hospice came into our life, when Kevin (my wife’s brother-in-law), died there from cancer leaving behind a wife (Jo) and 2 children (Harry and Oscar). The support that Jo and her family received was invaluable. In April it will be a year since Kevin died and I have decided to raise money for Harry and Oscar in memory of their Dad.
The Hospice is a partly self funded, but without donations it would not be able to provide the necessary support to families in their hour of need. So I ask, that even if you can only spare a few pounds, then please donate to this is worthy cause.
Many thanks in advance for your donation.

*UPDATE* 6th March 2010
Well training going reasonably well. Up to 20 miles at the moment and looking forward to an easy weekend as only have a half marathon to race on Sunday! First 20 mile race (Spitfire 20) next weekend, so will be interesting to see how the training is 'really' going!
*UPDATE* 25th March 2010
Well Half marthon went very well. 1hour 19mins on quite a tough course so really pleased. Only problem is the knee injury that onset afterwards! Not a great training week, but managed to get round the Spitfire 20 in just under 2hours 15mins, so really please to even make it to the start line. Cranleigh at the weekend and soon time to tamper down :-)
*UPDATE* 7th April 2010
Cranleigh went really well. Ran faster than I wanted, but felt comfortable for most of it. Managed it in just under 2:18 and only have another 5 miles to go :-) Did last long slow run on Monday and have a final easy 16 miler on Sunday in the Kingston breakfast run. Looking forward to the rest now ...
*UPDATE* 16th April 2010
Well last update before the big day and only 9 days to go. Not so much good news. Managed to hurt my achilles the day after my long run and had to have a week off :-( Decided not ot take the chance and do the breakfast run. Only managed to do a couple of shortish runs this week, but Injury is feeling a bit better. Hopefully it will be OK on the day, after a weeks rest :-)
*UPDATE* 25th April 2010
Well the good news I did get round :-) The bad news, in no where near the time I expected :-( Everything was OK up to about 19 miles when the achilles injury hit. Had to walk the last 4.5 miles as in too much pain to run. So just managed to duck under 4 hours, a new PW... Now for the long road to recovery!
