Kilimanjaro Climb 2010 - Paul Walker · 18 September 2010

In the UK, a woman dies every two hours from ovarian cancer. As the leading ovarian cancer research charity, we’re working to change that. By finding new and better ways to prevent, treat and detect ovarian cancer, we will ensure a future where no woman dies of ovarian cancer.

Story

ANYONE WHO WANTED TO PLAY IN CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH ON MAY 30TH - PLEASE NOTE ALL PLACES HAVE NOW GONE

At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust. My challenge is to reach its summit.

I am turning 40 this year so wanted to give myself a challenge but also wanted to do something for a charity I feel very passionately about - Ovarian Cancer Action.

Unfortunately, I lost my fantastic mum to this awful disease in January 2009. As well as being a great mum she was a fantastic person who never stopped looking out for others. She worked at schools in the kitchens and doing youth work for over 30 years and only gave it up when she started chemo (to avoid infections etc). She was a real inspiration always positive and always with her trademark smile. It is going to be great to do a challenge like this in memory of a brilliant mum!

Those of you who are thinking "Pauls just after a free holiday" this is not the case. £1800 of the money raised pays towards the trip so I will donate £2000 to cover this. This ensures that any money you pay will purely go to the charity so please dig deep.

As its my 40th I would rather you make a donation than buying me a present (if you were planing too!).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
