Saturday 9th April - Paul has finished The Marathon Des Sables in 116th position!  What a fantastic achievement!!

Thursday 7th April - Yesterday was the longest and toughest day.  The day started for Paul at 9am and 82km later he crossed the finish line at 10pm last night (11pm english time).  Many competitors arrived during the night and reading a press release just now, the last competitor arrived in at 6pm tonight.  Paul is now in 104th postition after 4 stages of the race!  What an absolutely fantastic achievement!!  Only 2 days and 59km left to go now!

Tuesday 5th April - Just to let everyone know about Paul's progress.  Paul has now completed 3 stages of the race (109km).  He had an amazing race (38km) today and finished in 98th position.  His overall position after 3 stages is now 113th, which is absolutely fantastic! (Approx 850 people in the race).  We even managed to see him smiling on the webcam when he had finished the race today!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 3rd April 2011, I will be running in The Marathon des Sables.  The race, otherwise known as the toughest footrace on Earth, is in Morocco and covers a distance of 243km.  I will experience mid-day temperatures of up to 120oF, running & walking on uneven rocky, stony ground as well as 15-20% of the distance being in sand dunes in the Sahara.

This is a real challenge for me and a little outside my comfort zone.  However, I have been training since October.  There was quite a bit of walking to start with, but with a bit of determination and self discipline, I am now running 5 days a week.  I am looking forward to the experience in spite of the inevitable aches and pains along the way.

I am raising money for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).  SIA is the leading national charity for spinal cord injured people.  The main aim of the charity is to offer support and assistance from the time of injury and for the rest of a paralysed person's life.

My target is to raise £10,000 for SIA and I would like to ask for your help, so that I can achieve this goal.  Every donation makes a big difference and your generosity will be very much appreciated.

Thank you so much for your support.

Paul
