On 3rd April 2011, I will be running in The Marathon des Sables. The race, otherwise known as the toughest footrace on Earth, is in Morocco and covers a distance of 243km. I will experience mid-day temperatures of up to 120oF, running & walking on uneven rocky, stony ground as well as 15-20% of the distance being in sand dunes in the Sahara.
This is a real challenge for me and a little outside my comfort zone. However, I have been training since October. There was quite a bit of walking to start with, but with a bit of determination and self discipline, I am now running 5 days a week. I am looking forward to the experience in spite of the inevitable aches and pains along the way.
I am raising money for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA). SIA is the leading national charity for spinal cord injured people. The main aim of the charity is to offer support and assistance from the time of injury and for the rest of a paralysed person's life.
My target is to raise £10,000 for SIA and I would like to ask for your help, so that I can achieve this goal. Every donation makes a big difference and your generosity will be very much appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support.
Paul
