You've probably heard of UNICEF. They're a team of extraordinarily passionate people, dedicating their time and efforts to aid children in need around the world. While they're doing an amazing job, they definitely need all the help they can get!

This is why I decided to take part in one of their amazing projects. I'm a lawyer in DLA Piper's Bucharest office and this is completely new to me: I'm now raising funds for vulnerable children and preparing to embark on a 9 day trek in the Simien Mountains, Ethiopia, to meet people living in a difficult environment. This feels like an experience of a lifetime.

Why am I doing this?

Because we live in an amazing time in an amazing world, but sadly some children don't get to experience it as we do. They're not as lucky as we are, nor as lucky as our children are or will be. They live in poverty and fear, without protection and hope. 

UNICEF and DLA Piper have been working for some time now to strenghten the protection of children from Bangladesh, especially for children who come in contact with the law. There are over 1 million street children in Bangladesh, whose futures are compromised. I have read articles about heart-breaking cases of children imprisoned for trivial crimes, mostly for stealing food to feed themselves and their families. Even worse, they have been treated as adults, having no special protection, which often leads to them being subjected to abuse in prison.  

They need someone on their side. 

Let's be their heroes! Just reach out and change the life of a child in need. A little from you means a lot for them. I'll put my heart and soul in this, but I can't do it alone...
