This year I spent an amazing 9 weeks in South Africa with family and friends. The highlight of my stay was volunteering at Amasango Career School in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. My heart has alternatively been wretched by some of their stories, so many harsh life experiences for such young children, and stolen by shy smiles and eager hands wanting just a little love. Rapt attention when reading a story and fierce concentration while doing simple addition. What joy there is to be had in these simple moments and a reminder of what a difference education can make in a childs life.
Jane (Principle) and her team of teachers provide the only opportunity for free education for street children in Grahamstown. Many of the children live in difficult social circumstances and this is their only opportunity of getting some education by which they may improve their lives.Your donations go towards the school feeding scheme, many would often go without food if it wasn't for sponsors like you.
