Running Bristol Half Marathon and much more for Bristol Children's Hospital

A series of challenges · 30 July 2016
Our gorgeous daughter Heidi was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in September 2015, at the age of 2. She was put on the highest intensity chemotherapy treatment protocol which lasted 9 months and is now on Maintenance chemotherapy until Feb 2018. She has coped brilliantly with all the chemo, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, hospital stays etc, and we are immensely proud of her. Now that she is in the Maintenance stage of treatment it means life can resume a different sort of 'normal', and so we should have more time to do all we can to raise money for the various charities that have supported, and will continue to support, us on this journey through to February 2018.
We want to support the Wallace and Gromit appeal because Heidi spent the first 2 weeks, following diagnosis, in the amazing care of the team in Ward 34 at Bristol Children's Hospital (Paediatric Oncology Ward). This was a terrifying time for us all as a family but they were so supportive in every way and we can't thank them enough, from the cleaning staff, to the playroom assistants, nurses, doctors and consultants. Heidi also had a fortnightly admission (for 3-4 days each time) in Feb / March for high dose chemotherapy and again their care was exceptional throughout.
