Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year's challenge is the Maggie's Monster bike and hike!!!
I am taking part in the event with another 19 members of the AEGON UK team. Training for the Maggie's has not been like anything I've done before; it's been long and hard. I started on Boxing Day and walked 6 miles in the snow in my new walking boots.... Since then I've walked nearly 200 miles and will probably have walked 250 by the time we actually do the event. But that's just the walking - there's also the cycle too.
The event starts at Fort William and goes 73 miles along the Great Glen Way to Inverness. The first 30 miles is a mountain cycle both on and off road. Then it's a 43 mile hike through the Scottish Highlands overnight in the dark. It will probably take between 18 to 20 hours. We start at about 8 am on the 1st May, I think we will finish at about 3 / 4 am on the 2nd May.
The charity is the Maggie's Centre's, most of you will have heard of them. The centres provide support and counselling for people and the families of people who suffer from cancer. They do a fantastic job, everyone has suffered in some way from cancer, either personally or through a friend or loved one. The centres are a lifeline for those who use them. It's a great cause and this event is one of their biggest fund raising events of the year, so please, please, please dig deep and give as much as you can.
