My story

Our main sponsors are now Ragus and Cubik and we will be fueled by Scheckter's Organic Energy Drink with support transport supplied by Day's Swansea!

On 21st June 2012 our team of seven cyclists will tackle an epic endurance event across the length and breadth of the UK to raise money and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research.

This adventure stems from our own shocking discovery that our good friend, Neil Cunningham (a successful racer/stunt driver - competing at Le Mans numerous times - and surfer) with a young family, two daughters and a son, has recently been diagnosed with MND.

The endurance event we have chosen for our fundraiser is grueling to say the least. Based on the classic Three Peaks Challenge (summitting the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales on foot in 24 hours or less, including travel time between each peak), but instead of driving from peak to peak, our team will cycle, aiming to complete the course in three days.

That’s one monster peak and 160 miles in the saddle a day. For three days. Now surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid eh?

The progress of the event will be streamed live via Facebook, Twitter, press, radio and television.

The impacts of Motor Neurone Disease affects old and young alike, however recent advances have given hope that a cure to the disease is imminent.
This hope is based on the fact that since The Heaton-Ellis Trust project was started 2 years ago seven genes associated with MND have been discovered, making ten in total. It is estimated that with 20 genes discovered, further progress can be made in developing drugs to deal with the onset of MND; younger generations with MND could be the first MND generation with hope of cure. But without funds, the possibility of a cure will continue to remain a distant dream for many generations to come. It should be noted that The Heaton-Ellis Trust has no overheads and all donations are matched by the UK and US MND associations.

So please dig deep and donate now.
