Right now, millions of children are in danger. They face violence, disease, hunger and the chaos of war and disaster. Unicef ensures more children get life-saving food, vaccinations, education and protection than anyone else. With your help, we can build a safer world for children. unicef.org.uk

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It is that time of the year when I come out of retirement and decide to get on my bike 'La Poderosa II' for Unicef.

This year we are off to the North of France for 4 days to complete 350 miles!

Day One

Approximately 112 miles / 180 km St Malo to Alencon. This will be a tough day with some undulations in the afternoon after a flat first 40 miles. After hugging the coast for a few miles, the route will then head in land towards Alencon.

Day Two

North East from Alencon to Rouen and will be roughly 98 miles / 158 km. Starting through the Foret d’Ecouves, the route heads back towards the coast. Again a tough day with plenty of undulations but a good long gradual descent late morning, before hitting a couple of short pushes prior to arrival in Rouen.

Day Three

Rouen to Amiens is a shorter day, approximately 74 miles / 119 km. After a short but sweet push out of Rouen, this a moderately up and down day - with a gradual descent over the afternoon, interspersed with a couple of blips to wake the legs up.

Day Four

The final day’s ride from Amiens to Lille: it passes through the Somme towards the battlefield area of the western front. The first two thirds of the route have some short and sharp pushes before a quick descent to a relatively flat last 20 miles / 32 km. At approximately 74 miles / 119 km everyone.
