21.5.10: Legs seem to have recovered from the beautiful yet brutal 81 mile ride in the highlands last Sunday in the Etape Caledonia...finished in 4hrs57mins...no tacks or protests this year! Only one event left...this Sunday's Scottish Half Marathon in Edinburgh. I feel pretty excited and have a couple of mates coming up from England to also run in Casa shirts this Sunday. For a laugh...some pics from the big ride http://www.sportcam.net/CompetitorImage.aspx?ID=2370&General=No
Thanks for all the support!!! :)
5/5/10: Stage 1 went well on Sun...myself and 8 other fantastic Casa runners completed the hilly 10km course around the lovely Scottish capital. Now for the bike...must get out and do some training. Did a 2hr run yesterday, so feel ready for the half marathon, but the riding certainly needs some attention. 11 days until the gruelling 81 mile ride! Thanks for your support...
Hello and thanks for popping in. Casa Alianza does a tower of work for vulnerable street children in Honduras, Nicaragua, and Mexico. Having lived in Honduras for a year I am aware of the scale of the problems faced by these children. They are constantly under threat, having to scrounge for a meagre meal, sleep in filthy doorways, avoid rape and beatings, as well as elude people traffickers.
During May, in between changing nappies, vacuuming, and cooking meals, I will be taking part in 3 extremely different events over 3 weekends:
#1 Great Edinburgh Run (10km), Sun 2nd May
http://www.greatrun.org/Events/Event.aspx?id=3
#2 Etape Caledonia (81 mile/130km bike race with 1,949m total ascent), Perthshire, Sun 16th May

#3 Scottish Half Marathon (13.1 miles/21.1km), Edinburgh, Sun 23rd May

10 quid would help replenish first aid supplies for outreach work on the streets.
20 quid would feed 10 children for a day in residential care.
30 quid would buy bedding and emergency supplies for our crisis centres.
Stay tuned for more updates...
Cheers!
