Story
Hello! Thanks for visiting my page :)
After watching the BBC fact-based drama, "Murdered by my boyfriend" I was deeply moved by the story and shocked by the statistics of domestic violence in the UK. One incident of domestic violence is reported every minute in the UK and 2 women are killed by their current or former partners every week. These numbers are shocking and I have, therefore, wanted to fundraise to support victims of domestic violence for some time now. Women's Aid is a charity and federation of over 220 organisations that provide more than 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across the country including 24 hour helplines and refuge. I hope that you will be able to help me in supporting their vital work by donating to my sponsorship page.
After volunteering at the university's annual 55-mile walk two years running and seeing the walkers through the night I must be mad to take on the challenge myself!! But seeing as it is my last year at uni and for a good cause - I am determined to get stuck in and beat the Bogle! Manchester RAG couldn't keep me away for long!
The Bogle walk is 55 miles in distance (have I mentioned that??!!) beginning at the Manchester Student's Union on the afternoon of 10th March, walking through the night and finishing on the afternoon/evening of Saturday 11th March!
History behind the Bogle: the Bogle walk for charity around Manchester began when a group of the university's lecturers got stuck in Lancaster and had to walk the 55 mile journey back to Manchester. They started to hallucinate and saw the mythical Bogle creature! Every year since students have been doing the 55 mile walk for charity!
Thank you very much for your donations for this important cause. I will try my absolute hardest to beat the Bogle!!
Love Penelope :)
