Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We call this Pen's Bike Ride around the Eye of the Rhino  which is the Swahili name for Lake Victoria in Central Africa.

The idea to do this came from Muriel who asked me 'Has anyone ever cycled around Lake Victoria?' We had been speaking about fundraising for Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda   .. So ...

...One of the major programmes provided by Kiwoko Hospital is for HIV/AIDS treatment and home care.

I had planned to bike around Lake Victoria in January 2011 with four friends, accompanied by a support vehicle. Now I'm doing the next best thing, three of us will travel by car around the Lake, a distance of ca 2000 miles, and, where feasible, will take short side trips on the bike.  We'll also be biking in western Uganda for a couple of weeks.  And finally we'll visit Kiwoko Hospital, the real reason for this great adventure.

I have to say that while I'm now in my 70s I am still having a great life and would love to put something back for those working at Kiwoko as well as for those being treated.

It would be great to have your support and contribution.

THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED - BETTY LYALL HAS JUST DONATED £60 ..!!

YES, WE COMPLETED THE TRIP, JUST JOHN AND MYSELF, WITHOUT A HITCH- NO ILLNESS, NOTHING STOLEN, IT ALL WORKED LIKE A DREAM.
