The three volcanoes open challenge · 24 September 2009

It provides facilities for disabled children and adults to ride, at an equestrian centre, near Lane End, Bucks, under instruction from qualified Instructors and with a Helper for each rider (all volunteers), leading to riders obtaining improved coordination and balance together with increased confidence and pride in their achievements

Story

Maidensgrove Group Riding for the Disabled Association is a charity affiliated with the national RDA.

We hire ponies from and hold riding sessions at the equestrian centre in Lane End near High Wycombe to enable children and adults who have disabilities to ride under qualified instruction. This is not only greatly enjoyed by the riders but also improves their self confidence and gives them pride in their achievements. All the helpers/ instructors are volunteers and there are 6 sessions per week in indoor and outdoor schools as well as rides through fields and woodlands.

I am one of the helpers at Maidensgrove and i am asking for your generosity to help fund more equipment for our centre. An example of what we would like to aquire is a music system for the riders to enjoy riding to music. In return and to highlight the needs of the charity i will be attempting to walk/ climb up 3 volcanos in Italy in 5 days in September (in case you can’t name 3 Italian volcanos – Etna, Vesuvius and Stromboli!)

100% of any donations will go to the charity. My trip to Italy will be entirely out of my own expense (and risk!)

Any donations, however small will be greatly recieved.
