Story

PENTAGON TOYOTA will soon be taking part in Bangers4BEN (Mk II) motor trade challenge. We, along with other teams from across the motor industry will hunt down a car costing less than £250 that will take us from Ascot to John O’Groats and back.

But the real challenge isn’t to get there and back – the real reason is to raise as much money for charity. The plan is to sell the cars at the end of the adventure in a special BCA auction and hand all the money over to BEN, The Automotive Charity. The entire sale price, including the original stake and any funds raised will be donated to the charity.

Here at PENTAGON TOYOTA we are highly committed to doing our part for charity and the local community. In addition to helping raise funds for BEN, we also donate to local Hospices and charities whenever we can.

THE DRIVERS

Richard Toyne and Neil Henderson

THE CAR

A 1997 Toyota Carina GS - Toyota reliability!

THE ROUTE

DAY ONE – Monday 9th November – begins at BEN’s headquarters at Ascot, Berkshire. After breakfast we’ll head off on the longest leg to Inverness, covering a staggering 560 miles.

DAY TWO – Tuesday 10th November – the convoy will head north to John O’Groats and then turn around back towards Berwick-upon-Tweed where BEN has a residential centre.

DAY THREE – Wednesday 11th November – we’ll be heading for our final destination…Brands Hatch racing circuit.  If the cars haven’t fallen apart by this point we’ll all take to the track for a few celebratory laps.

REPORTING
Each team is required to set up a Twitter account and ‘blog’ while they’re on the event. If you’ve never used the site before, don’t worry, it’s very simple.  Please follow us and our progress – www.twitter.com/PentagonToyota

Basically, Twitter is an online blog, to which we will send updates to, of no more than 140 characters.

Each car will be given a three letter identifying code, and ours is PTO.

PRIZES
Car Dealer Magazine will be handing out ‘special’ prizes in a few categories…

The overall winner – this will be decided by the team that completes the trip and makes the most profit when their car is sold. The original stake will be deducted from the BCA sale price to reveal the total.

The best decorated car – as decided by BEN. Purely picked by the charity.

The Top Twit – as an incentive to document the journey via Twitter, Car Dealer Magazine will be handing out a gong for the team that submits the most entertaining and relevant tweets during the event. This will be judged by the Car Dealer editor.

We obviously want a clean sweep of all the prizes, so please dig deep, get donating and follow us on Twitter - www.twitter.com/PentagonToyota
