Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page to fundraise for City Gateway 2012/13

Buying your tickets via this page rather than on the night will save you from carrying cash, waiting for change, and squeezing between tables to buy a ticket from a member of the Charity team.

Please unselect the ‘Gift Aid’ option, when making a contribution, as this cannot be claimed for the raffle.

Once your payment has been processed, your pledge has been confirmed and we will save your tickets to give to you on the night.

There are some great prizes to be won this year, including a lunch with Cora Stone, a professional bouquet or table arrangement for a chosen occassion, £50 theatre ticket vouchers, a Fortum & Mason hamper, and £40 vouchers towards a meal at Yalla Yalla.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.

So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now for a generous 2013!

The Past Accenture and City Gateway collaboration - 2012

The City Gateway (CG) event kicked off Q1 2012 with a fun Human Bingo session where we learnt that Peggah Kamali has visited Disneyland over 50 times, Lydia Gregory owns stick insects and James Forrester is often mistaken for Shakira’s boyfriend. After this, there was an activity on defining what makes a good C.V. using N-Dubz’s Dappy and Justin Timberlake as applicants for the role of a Hollywood Movie Star. The CG participant’s and ACN volunteers then worked together to create personal C.V.’s.

After lunch, there was another ice-breaker where we learnt that Danni Howard has been held at gunpoint and Lucy Walton has never eaten fastfood – including Nando’s, in her life (travesty!). For the interview session, Rewa Umunna and Sam Madden put on an Oscar-worthy role play session to highlight what constitutes a good/bad interview. The entire group then went off in pairs to interview one another for a job as a park ranger in a Chinese forest.

The day was concluded with a series of knowledge checkers and an open forum for feedback. All in all, a fantastic day was had by all and on a very positive note, the young people’s participation counted towards their Employability qualifications.

Additional Comments from CG Participants

·         “I’ve learnt how to prepare for my interviews by learning about my employer etc. I have really enjoyed doing this”.

·         “The sessions helped me improve on my C.V. and also gave me feedback on interview techniques. I really enjoyed coming here”.

·         “I enjoyed creating a C.V. and working with people that deal with interviews daily”.

·         “They were very helpful with my C.V. and showed me role play. I learnt new techniques about interviews”.
