This June, as part of the 2019 FireFlies Tour, I will be setting out to ride from Innsbruck in Austria to Cannes in the south of France. Raising money for Bloodwise, our aim is to raise as much money as possible and help beat blood cancer. 

The ride itself is over 1,000km long, with over 80,000ft of climbing, taking in some of the most gruelling mountains of the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia - including the formidable Stelvio Pass (that's it in the picture). 

80,000ft is high; it's over 2x the height of Everest. It's 78x the height of the shard. It's like cycling up box hill 142 times. I am equal parts excited and terrified. 

So why do it? Because, in the UK, 38 people die everyday from blood cancer. That's 14,000 people a year. Because we have all been affected by cancer in one way or another, and because Bloodwise is working hard to fight it. 

The FireFlies Alps tours have raised £2m so far. Please help me add to that total and give generously.
