I'll be sailing in the Round the Island Race on Saturday 27 June. With 1,600 other boats taking part it is as much about staying upright as it is about finishing.  We are all raising funds for Keech Hospice, ensuring that their inpatient beds are available when families need them most.

I was inspired to take part to support the fundraising of Mark Richardson. He has organised for eight yachts to be sponsored so every penny we raise will be donated to Keech. Mark's wife Jackie died in 2014 aged 48. While she had received treatment for cancer for many years her last 48 hours were spent at Keech; Mark and their four daughters were so impressed by the level of care that the whole family received that they pledged to fundraise so that other families, in a similar situation, could have the same experience. Over 70% of the funds needed to keep Keech open are from community donations like yours.
